↘ The brief
15 Hudson Yards is a mixed-use residential tower within the Hudson Yards development on Manhattan’s West Side, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Rockwell Group.
As part of the SOCOTEC building enclosure consulting team, the role supported the project during construction administration, with a focus on façade submittals, field coordination, construction changes, and technical review of building enclosure conditions during installation.
↘ The approach
The work included review of façade shop drawings, technical submittals, RFIs, change orders, and proposed field modifications related to the building enclosure. Field observations were performed to document installation progress, identify deficiencies, track open items, and support coordination between the contractor, façade contractor, architect, and engineering team.
When unforeseen conditions or coordination issues arose during construction, the role supported technical review of proposed fixes, remediation strategies, and engineered field alterations before implementation.
↘ The outcome
The work helped support informed technical decision-making throughout construction administration. Through submittal review, field observations, deficiency tracking, and coordination with the broader project team, building enclosure issues were identified, documented, and addressed during installation, helping reduce construction risk and support the successful execution of the façade systems.
Phase
Construction Administration
Supported construction administration for the building enclosure systems, including façade submittal reviews, field observations, coordination, deficiency tracking, and technical review of field modifications.
