↘ The brief
390 Madison Avenue is an office tower located in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The project involved the redevelopment of an existing commercial building through a complete replacement of the exterior façade, creating a modern curtain wall enclosure while preserving and adapting the original structural framework. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), the redevelopment modernized the building to meet contemporary performance, architectural, and tenant expectations.
As part of the SOCOTEC building enclosure consulting team, construction administration services included technical review of façade shop drawings and submittals, field observations, quality assurance and quality control, and coordination with the architect, contractor, façade contractor, and engineering team throughout construction.

Working as part of the SOCOTEC building enclosure consulting team, responsibilities included review of façade shop drawings, technical submittals, engineering revisions, RFIs, and field modifications throughout construction. Coordination between the architect, façade contractor, engineering team, and construction personnel helped maintain consistency with the project's design intent while supporting constructability and enclosure performance.
The role involved frequent site visits to observe installation of the curtain wall systems, document construction progress, prepare field observation reports, track technical deficiencies, and verify that corrective actions were implemented. Ongoing collaboration with the project team supported quality assurance, quality control, and resolution of field conditions as construction progressed.

Through continuous technical review, field observation, and coordination with the broader project team, building enclosure issues were identified and addressed throughout construction. The work supported informed technical decision-making, improved installation quality, reduced construction risk, and helped facilitate successful implementation of the new curtain wall system while maintaining the project's performance objectives.
