↘ The brief
430 East 58th Street is a luxury residential high-rise located in Manhattan's Sutton Place neighborhood. Designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, the project features a high-performance stone and glass building enclosure engineered to meet demanding structural, air, water, and thermal performance requirements.
As part of the SOCOTEC building enclosure consulting team, responsibilities focused on construction administration of the performance mock-up process, supporting testing, technical coordination, documentation, and implementation of enclosure system revisions prior to fabrication and installation.
↘ The approach
Working as part of the SOCOTEC building enclosure consulting team, responsibilities centered on overseeing the construction and testing of the full-scale façade performance mock-up. This included coordination with the testing laboratory, façade contractor, project engineers, and construction team throughout the testing process.
The work involved documenting system deficiencies, evaluating observed performance, tracking recommended remediations, and preparing technical reports following each testing sequence. Particular emphasis was placed on verifying that approved modifications and corrective measures were incorporated into subsequent shop drawing revisions before fabrication and field installation, helping maintain continuity between tested assemblies and the final constructed façade.

Through comprehensive documentation, coordination, and technical review during performance mock-up testing, enclosure system issues were identified and resolved prior to production. The work supported informed design refinements, improved quality control, and helped ensure that tested performance criteria were accurately translated into the final construction documents and installed building enclosure systems.
